We are looking for a Firmware Engineer II who is passionate about embedded systems and enjoys building firmware that runs reliably on real-world devices at scale. We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about embedded systems and enjoys building firmware that runs reliably on real-world devices at scale. Your firmware will run on 20,000+ devices deployed in the field , making reliability, maintainability, and careful engineering critical parts of the role. You will be involved across the complete firmware lifecycle designing, developing, testing, debugging, releasing, and maintaining production firmware . You will work on areas including sensor acquisition, RTOS-based systems, connectivity, storage, device communication, and system reliability. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working close to hardware, solving complex problems, understanding how systems behave in the field, and taking ownership of their work from development through production.
Why This Role Exists As our device fleet and firmware capabilities continue to grow, we need engineers who can build reliable and maintainable firmware while continuing to improve existing systems already deployed in the field. Firmware changes can directly impact thousands of devices. This role exists to ensure that new features are designed carefully, tested thoroughly, and built to operate reliably under real-world conditions. You will work on both new development and existing production firmware , helping us improve reliability, add capabilities, investigate field issues, and build better firmware architecture for future products.
Requirements 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development • Strong programming skills in C • Good understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers • Hands-on experience with an RTOS such as Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or similar • Good understanding of: Tasks/threads and scheduling Interrupts Queues Mutexes and semaphores Synchronization and concurrency • Experience working with SPI, I²C, UART, GPIO, and interrupts • Experience developing or integrating device drivers • Strong understanding of pointers, memory management, bit manipulation, and data structures • Ability to read datasheets, register maps, and hardware specifications • Experience debugging hardware and firmware issues • Comfortable working in a Linux development environment • Experience with Git/Github • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
